Welcome to Black Eagle Farm.

The rolling hills and river bottom land of Black Eagle Farm were initially deeded in the 18th Century and have remained in continuous farming use since, raising both livestock, and producing crops and timber.

Our own family farming tradition in Europe can be traced back for generations.  We have farmed here in Central Virginia for the last twenty-nine years, along the foothills of the Blue Ridge, where we have produced high performing Angus, Simmental and cross beef cattle, and finished Boar goats and Texel cross lambs both for the local, traditional and ethnic markets, as well as breeding stock for throughout the State.

All animals are  raised primarily outside on permanent pastures, are grass and grain finished, and only temporarily inside during adverse weather conditions. The housing is both animal and environmentally friendly.  We allow all our animals access to woodland for shade, and with the assistance of various conservation programs, have been able to provide them with drinking water from natural sources.  We produce both organic and natural products.

Our organic pullets and layers are kept under stringent USDA organic standards, and according to our own organic, and animal and environmentally friendly criteria.

The beef, goat, lamb and pork is produced according to natural standards, as we feel that certain practices for these species should be maintained for the sake of livestock health and well being. For example, in the hot and humid conditions of Virginia, sheep occasionally need to be treated against parasites; primarily we use homeopathic methods, but if necessary will administer other approved products, and observe all USDA guidelines.  Similarly our cattle are one of the only herds in Virginia which is routinely checked and tested free of leukosis.

Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us at the above mentioned address and/or numbers.  We would be very happy to assist in any way.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our website.

With best regards,  Dr. Ralph Glatt & Family
